MEET OUR ACTS

KA PILINA
Ka Pilina is a wahine trio based in Wailuku, Maui. It all began for them as three high school girls with a love for music. To Ka Pilina, Hawaiian music is something that brings people together, connects generations, and carries with it strength and richness. The young women aspire to be positive contributors to the lāhui, to keep Hawaiian culture alive with integrity, and lovingly connect with pōkiʻi, ʻōpio, mākua, and kūpuna alike. Consisting of Shania Lee, Kamakana Kawaʻa, and Emalani Kekauoha-Schultz, Ka Pilina is truly a talented group of young women.
RANDI
"Aloha , my name is Randi Lonzaga. I am a dancer and aspiring choreographer born and raised in Maui , Hawaii. I started dancing at the age of three years old, and I’ve been in love with the art ever since. From as far as I can remember, dance has always been a way of expressing myself. Whenever I go through a hard time I always find myself going to the dance studio because it’s my safe place. Dancing makes me feel alive, comfortable, ecstatic. I feel one hundred percent authentically myself when I dance. I get to pour all of the emotions I’ve been feeling into movement, and I think that’s a beautiful thing. Dance has always been my outlet and that’s why I continue to dance."

XADEN
"Howzit, my name is Xaden Nishimitsu and I am currently a senior at King Kekaulike High School. I play the trumpet and sing (on occasion). Initially I was introduced to music through Zenshin Daiko when I was 7, but I really started getting into it around my 6th grade year when I joined the band. It was here that jazz caught my ear. There was something about the sound that made me say “I want to be able to do that”. And ever since then I’ve practiced, striving to better myself everyday until I can actualize that dream. But recently I’ve found that I play for other people in the hopes that they’ll have as much fun as I do. To me, music is a connection of people, and I want to be able to play music that people enjoy and have a good time doing it. After high school, I plan to attend a college on the East Coast and pursue a bachelor's degree in Jazz Studies/Music Performance."

PARKER & THE PLAYHOUSE BOYS
September 2019, Sean Cerizo, Kevin Martin, Daxton Vickers, and Dan Vu founded Parker and the Playhouse Boys. With talented singers and musicians from different schools on Maui, this four piece band can rock the stage like no other, and have a great time doing it. Based in Wailuku this band jams out at their “playhouse,” and loves to play for any type of audience. PPB style, they rock out to all the latest hits. Playing at parties, events, and so much more, this group has created a bond that lasts a lifetime.
SILHOUETTE
Colette comes from a musical family. Jill first started her music interest in her middle school band, then continuing her passion for music in the Maui High School choir. Shirley was surrounded by music all her life, including dancing, singing, and playing the ukulele and the piano. We first met as classmates in the Chamber Choir of their Junior year in high school.
The Spring Showcase is held in our school gym every year and it gives choir members the opportunity to sing as an ensemble and perform. As a group (along with two other people), we sang the popular hit, Show Yourself, by Idina Menzel from the Frozen 2 soundtrack. Since the COVID-19 pandemic struck, we won’t have the opportunity to sing in our annual spring showcase, so we decided to perform for this benefit concert to be together once again. We even gave ourselves a name: Silhouette, which combines all three of our names into a word that means a dark figure/outline, which resembles our timid personalities when we each first started getting comfortable in pursuing our musical talents.
